“Well, I matriculated at Jules High School in Jeppes Town JHB East in 2007. In March 2009 I was awarded an apprenticeship with then Scharrighuisen Opencast Mining which was one of the biggest mining companies in the country at that time. Working with this company afforded me the opportunity to be trained in the best training institution in the country that is Colliery Training College.
I started my training with CTC in September 2009 and wrote my trade-test March 2011 and passed the first attempt Diesel Mechanic-Coal Section 13 making me the first female artisan to be produced in the Sentula Mining Group which was now the holding company for Megacube Mining(Scharrighuisen Opencast Mining).
In April 2012 I joined Benicon Opencast Mining as a Component Rebuild Mechanic specializing in earthmoving powertrain components until June 2016. In September 2016 I joined Mpondozankomo FET college as an N1 motor mechanics lecturer until March 2017,
I also marked N6 power machines in December 2016. In July 2017 I joined Bakone Technical Services as a field service mechanic working at the Ruber Tyre Section at Optimum Colliery Kwagga site until December 2018 which helped sharpen my troubleshooting skills.
In September 2018 I graduated with my national N Diploma in Mechanical Engineering and this was really important to me as I value education.
March 2019 I joined CTC as an assistant mechanical training officer and the experience has been amazing, this trade empowered me to build what I believe is a successful career over the years and now being in a position where I can also empower others is something I do not take for granted.”
